Wildfire, The Last Great Revival by Marty Delmon

What is real? What is an allegory? Does anyone really know about angels or demons? Is there spiritual warfare? Marty Delmon is a consummate story teller and in her newest offering she tells a story that could be true. I am reminded of Ephesians 6:10. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Marty’s story has a huge cast of characters led by Bart a spirit filled preacher who knows the truth and preaches the gospel with authority. Bart is a cowboy from Montana a real man’s man and a total man of God. God has given Bart a vision for the future of Reno, NV. He gets a little confused and starts to get ahead of God. The Holy Spirit prevails and gets him back on track.

Then there is Dempsey an up and coming professional golfer who just happens to win a major golf tournament in Reno only to have his golfing career cut short by a freak accident. Dempsey comes to the Lord and finds his call.

Jazz is large warm hearted woman who has had a pretty hard life not knowing her father and be raised by an alcoholic mother. She is full of rage stemming from her upbringing. After becoming part of a rejoicing in recovery program the Lord changes her heart. Jazz plays a major part in the story as she continues to heal from her childhood.

In this well crafted story Marty deftly illustrates the battle that believers face daily with the forces of evil. Satan is clearly threatened by the vision for revival that God has given Bart. The battle is on and Satan pulls out all of the stops trying to defeat God’s plan. God’s angels are on full alert and ready to thwart all of Satan’s efforts. There are many twists and turns that kept me clued to book from start to finish.

In general we know how the story will turn out. God wins. Marty has thrown a good number of very sound spiritual tools into the mix. Prayer, obedience, patience, and self sacrifice are all part of the story. I am sure that you will enjoy your reading time as much as I did.

You can find the book on Amazon, Cokesbury, and from her publisher Tate Publishing .
